Using Social Networking Sites Such As MySpace and Facebook
Social networking sites have long existed in the form of bulletin boards and different websites but none have gained the popularity of MySpace and Facebook. Both of these sites allow millions of users to log on each day to find friends, share stories and post personal information about their lives. Both are remarkably similar but there are some key differences that give MySpace the edge in the race to acquire more users.
The new "hip" thing is to belong to one of the two most prominent social networking sites; MySpace and Facebook. With both sporting millions of members it is easy to find people that you know so you can connect with them in an internet environment. Simply have a valid email address and be over the age of thirteen and you will be allowed to create a profile. Once you have your MySpace or Facebook login, you will be ready to connect with other people.
There are differences in MySpace and Facebook. The first is in the number of users that use these two sites. MySpace can boast over seventy-three million users. Facebook can only claim thirty-six million users. This has many business experts worried that advertising services used on Facebook will decline and not bring in enough revenue to support the site in the future. Daily advertising banners are the backbone of how Facebook and MySpace are supported. There has been merger news about Facebook and MySpace but as of yet nothing has come to fruition.
Your profile is a big dividing point between MySpace and Facebook. MySpace allows you to customize your profile through the use of HTML and CSS coding. Facebook has only a text based system so you miss out on being able to use some of the graphics and additions to customize your webpage. The ability to customize your layout is a huge plus MySpace has going on for them.
One of the similarities, besides being able to search Facebook and MySpace for friends, is that you can add graphics to your page if you have the right codes. There are many websites on the internet that will give you the right code for certain graphics and images. Another similarity is that you can post whatever you want. You can share stories, pictures and any writings that you wish.
Many adults are now using social networking sites. It is no longer a game for just teens who wish to rant and rave about their parents. Many members of both sites now use their pages as social commentary and for getting their voices heard. It also allows them to find friends from their past and reconnect. MySpace and Facebook have also helped people meet in real life for relationship goals. It is a growing network that will likely keep on expanding until it touches everyone.

Today's Tip On Facebook
There is one downside to using Facebook, over its rival MySpace. You will not be able to have the page layouts and designs that are offered through the use of HTML or CSS. Facebook uses a text based program to customize profiles. This is probably one of the many reasons why people use MySpace as their social networking site, yet many people use both Facebook and MySpace so that they can connect with more people. You can utilize this method as well.
